Pre-meditated, big word. What does it mean? In layman’s terms it means you planned it. The courts look at it as a more serious crime when it is pre-meditated.
1st Degree or Pre-meditated murder.
2nd Degree or any murder that was intentional, but not planned out or pre-meditated.
Voluntary Manslaughter or no intent, but the situation caused the person to elevate to the level of murder.
Involuntary Manslaughter or accidental with reckless behavior: Drunk Driving, Shooting a gun recklessly, etc.
Did you know that God judges on a similar system? NO, not the same, and no not dealing with just murder, but there are some similarities. Let me give you a couple of verses.
FOR IF WE SIN WILLFULLY AFTER THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED THE KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH, THERE REMAINETH NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS.
SOMETIMES I WONDER IF WE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS VERSE, OR IF WE MUCH PREFER THESE VERSES?
IT IS OF THE LORD’S MERCIES THAT WE ARE NOT CONSUMED, BECAUSE HIS COMPASSION FAIL NOT. THEY ARE NEW EVERY MORNING: GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS.
That one is much easier, right? But here is the truth, they are both equal. You can’t have one without the other. His mercies are new every day. And I am thankful, but I also know that if I continue to live in sin, planned out premeditated sin, then my conscience will be severed from right doing and it will no longer even believe it is sin.
I believe that part of THE SHIFT that God is doing in our lives is calling our leaders and our congregants to live a Holy Life. To present ourselves a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. Just like with the disciples, they depended too much on Him to do it for them. We have become so dependent on His Mercy and Grace to cover us, that we have lost sight of holy living. His Mercy and Grace is there for us, and again, I am thankful, but it makes it pretty clear that He is calling his Disciples to walk above the pre-meditated, greasy grace, God knows me and He created me this way kind of thinking.
He does know you and me, He does know our sin, and He is not okay with it. He said, “Make yourselves holy”. He said, “Be holy for I am holy”. Today, this is as hard for me to write as I am sure it is for you to read, unless of course it falls on ears that no longer hear. It is hard, because I have allowed some things to creep into my life, that are not as holy as they should be. And Father is calling me to SHIFT. Here is where I have written 30 lines and erased them. So let me just say this, I have to SHIFT, in everything I do, I don’t want to, but, if I don’t then it is pre-meditated murder of my ministry. And I cannot and will not allow that to happen. So, let me encourage you today, to stop what you are doing and to do what is right. God is making a SHIFT, with or without us, I hope it is with all of us together. Only you can decided that.
SHIFTING- LIKE IT OR NOT.
